Asterisk WILL be running as root on the AADK.


Networking configuration from the GUI will soon be availible, its
almost done :]

I recently packaged the asterisk-gui as a Debian package (from trunk,
rev. 488, IIRC). I hope to get it into Debian experimental soon (I hope
that there is no trademark issue).

One important point:

Do you expect asterisk to run as root?

I normally don't. Giving a non-root user the ability to do such an
arbitrary change to the networking is not something to be taken lightly.

Do consider seperating all the management stuff from Asterisk. When
someones gains access to the Asterisk user, they should not gain root in
the process. And there will be many future security holes in Asterisk,
as Asterisk works extensivly with arbitrary information from the
network, with little time to parse it.

However, if you feel that the change is useful, patches are welcomed.
