[Asterisk-doc] hardware support

I am new to asterisk and having trouble looking through all the
support info 
to get started. I have a few questions about getting started.
The first question is a pc to handle the pci cards ie looking for  a 
motherboard that supports the 64bit 3.3 volt cards. The second
question  is 
linux version with ker 2.4. I have on hand suse 8.1/8.2/9.0 also
redhat 9.0 
witch will be the less trouble to get it installed on the proper
hardware.

And the last question how well does it work and is it stable could it
be used 
in a carrier class system.
