wonderful if asterisk were to migrate from a PBX to a UC platform. An XMPP based
API would probably be best (the alternative SIMPLE protocol seems destined to be
restricted to the SIP world at best) i.e. SMS in chan_dahdi.c -> XMPP
(in pbx.c?) -> SIMPLE in chan_sip.c</FONT></SPAN></DIV><BR>

What about text messages in SIP channels? I have not tried it out at all, so I don't know how they work.
But I have a few Kirk 5020 DECT Phones with a Kirk 6000 SIP Dect-Basestation. This phones can send and
receive text messages.
It would be nice, if they could send out a sms from a GSM device.
