I like!

Let me add some tests that fail but shouldn't:

        /* one message, not two */
	char *sip_in_sip[] = {
		"INVITE sip:a at b.c SIP/2.0\r\n"
		"c:sip-in-sip :P\r\n" /* Content-Type */
                "l:47\r\n" /* Content-Length */
                "\r\n"
                "INVITE sip:b at b.c SIP/2.0\r\n"
                "Content-Length: 0\r\n"
                "\r\n"
        }

And:

        /* no, it does have a body */
	char *x_header_confusion[] = {
		"INVITE sip:a at b.c SIP/2.0\r\n"
                "X-Content-Length: 0\r\n"
                "Content-Length: 5\r\n"
                "\r\n"
                "body!"
        }

Not to mention all the shitty ways we can fold headers:

        /* try to seek around the the folding */
	char *shitty_folding[] = {
		"INVITE sip:a at b.c SIP/2.0\r\n"
                "Content-Length: \t\r\n"
                "\t \r\n"
                " 5\t \r\n"
                "\r\n"
                "body!"
        }

When looking at backtraces, it was apparent that the problematic thread was the SIP TCP thread. It was blocked in a call to fgets(). This blocked thread was holding a lock that the SIP monitor thread was trying to lock. Once the SIP monitor thread was stuck trying to grab the lock, it meant that no SIP traffic could be received.

The obvious oddness was that we were polling on a file descriptor but then trying to read from a corresponding FILE handle. This, in the general opinion of everyone, is "stupid". I supplied a patch to the reporter that uses recv() instead of fgets() for TCP SIP connections, hoping this would work.
