This is not exactly the case with dkms.

As practically only Debian (among the big distributions) tris to guarante a
stable ABI to module versions accross minor kernel upgrades, the DKMS
approach is to ignore it altogether and hope for the best.

(and right. The proper fix for that would be to move DAHDI into
mainline)
