I don't think the hang was related to Asterisk - one of the Asterisk processes was already dead, the other was in a stable state, waiting for a signal flag.  Oddly enough, it appears as if the test base class thought it had issued a core stop gracefully, but the command never made it to the second instance of Asterisk.  We may want to implement a timeout and forcibly kill the processes if the core stop gracefully takes too long.
