[asterisk-dev] Asterisk Documentation Update

Howdy,

(top posting)

As Bryan mentioned yesterday, there's discussion taking place.

The first result, based upon the responses of the people I've polled, is that there's general agreement that the first step is modifying the choice of creative commons license that's being used on the Asterisk documentation on the wiki, as well as the documentation that's pulled from the wiki and into the Asterisk tarball releases.

At present, it's going out under CC-BY-NC-ND 3.0. The proposal is to change that to CC-BY-SA 3.0. This is a documentation license that puts it inline with the licenses that are acceptable by both Fedora[1] and Debian[2]. It has also been proposed that the following statement be adopted for acceptable attributions: "Attribution should be made on the title page of physical books or in the footer of web content."

If anyone's opposed, please speak now. I think it'd be a good idea to get this affected as quickly as possible, and into the forthcoming 1.8.7.0 release.

Cheers
