Only had a quick look at the patch, but maybe you're looking from the 
wrong angle. The changes in channel.c at lines 6754, 6756, 7098 and 
7100, and pbx.c at lines 4635, 4721, 4769 and 4819 are fairly insidious. 
The previous code cancelled all softhangups, the new code only toggles a 
bit.

Maybe the additional hangup was always there but was previously 
cancelled at one of the above lines.
