[asterisk-dev] Asterisk coredump

Hi everybody,

I think this is the better group for debugging-purpose than the normal
users group.

We have running several Asterisk 1.4 boxes and normaly they are very
stable, uptimes are more than 100 days and this because it was a
sheduled restart 3 month ago.

But sometimes, we have a crash and no clue what happend, after the crash
the script starts Asterisk in save-mode to create a coredump, but
normaly Asterisk does not crash again.

The disadvantage running Asterisk in save-mode is, that it runs as root
and this is no option for long term use.

So the idea is to add the "-g" option to the normal startup-script:

ASTARGS="-g -p -U asterisk"

Does this have _any_ disadvantages or can this lead in problems with
Asterisk?

Thanks a lot,
