Based on the nature of the changes, I'm not concerned about it 
introducing problems under load.  The higher risk is accidental 
regressions due to a problem in a CDR backend that hasn't been tested 
yet.  It would be nice to hit as many CDR backends as possible to make 
sure the changes do behave as expected.
