If one can do voip over satelite with vpn either with compression or
not, why should a simple dialupmodem not work?
sure, re-recompression (in-affective as it will be) should only add
unwanted latency, and should be disabled if possible, but when using the
latest modems 48k or 56k bandwith should be obtainable.
All i could think of, is that the modem connection should allready be
up-and-running. One can shurely forget about call-triggerd modem
connections, as it takes quite some time before those modem-connections
are up-and-running, so any calling party will probably get
"busy/unobtainable/out-of-order"...
