[asterisk-dev] How to build a monitoring module?

Hi All,

 

I am trying to build a module in a custom software that displays /
indicates if a line is busy and perhaps even shows the callerid's. 

 

What is the best way of doing this? I assume this would be achieved
through the API.

 

I can currently make connection to the Asterisk box using the API but
not sure if this is the right path.
