Additional suggestion:

In the LTS release we will not add new functionality that changes the  
PBX core or existing modules. We may however choose add modules that  
are separate from existing core functionality, like a new app_,  
func_ , chan_ or res_ that does not change API or require changes in  
other modules.

This is a change from the 1.4 policy and a limitation in regards to  
what happened between 1.6.x releases.
