One important part of having this enabled in the telco switch is that you can forward the caller ID of the forwarding call in most cases, as the call doesn't go outside of the telco's infrastructure. If the call has to go into your system and then be "tromboned" out as a call forward, most telco's will replace the caller ID with the default caller ID for your outbound trunk.
