While your question meets the "dev" part of "asterisk-dev" mailing list, it definitely has nothing to do with the "asterisk" one.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goertzel_algorithm
or see the sources of main/dsp.c from the Asterisk...

Subject: [asterisk-dev] DTFM question

Hi Guys:

First post to the list, so Hi to all...

I'm really lost here, I run a fedora 8 and I have a external trendnet
TMF-560X and a couple of internal "linuxant" modems (don't know if can
be used for what I want..) an I need to do "simple" DTMF detection. I
post to the dev list becouse I'm a programmer and I need to do this DTMF
detection from a program, currently from my C and C# (mono/linux) I can
send AT commands to the modem, but then I'm lost about what is need to
do to detect DTMF tones like the one used for voice menus, etc.

So, I think that a extermal program is needed to do that like asterix,
is posible to interact with asterix software to do this task?, and as
curiosity how that is doit? (I mean a program to do that from zero have
to "read" the sound from the modem line and run a algorithm to detect
the DTMF tone? or is more like a HW capability?)..I ask that becouse I
find a example C program that can capture sound from input line, may ca
be use to capture data from modem line?..)

Any info is going to be appreciated..

thanks

Mauricio
