Well, it would still work if we used the ability of the IMAP server to 
notify us when the mailbox changes.

However, I'm not sure how it would work for a web application.  Would 
that mean that the web application would need access to the Asterisk 
manager interface?  I'm not sure if that is a reasonable requirement or not.
