If you do that, you will have to completely rework the various Rename, Unlink
and Hangup events associated with masquerading. I'm sure I'm not alone in
having a comprehensive AMI application that keeps track of the channels in
the system using the manager events. It uses the Unique ID to identify the
channels and uses the various events to keep track of masquerades.

I suspect the motivation for the suggestion is to "simplify" AMI applications,
but I can see it breaking existing AMI applications' channel models.
