on the other hand, if it comes from libtool, wouldn't it be better
to put the appropriate code in bootstrap.sh to bring whatever is needed
from the libtool configuration into the (generated) configure script ?

i am asking the experts here, because i definitely don't have an idea
on how to do it... perhaps calling AC_PROG_LIBTOOL  ?

and that was exactly my point, if we need to copy stuff at all.
