Is there a problem to integrate
http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=7254 into the forthcoming Asterisk 1.4 ?
I see that the post-1.4 tag has been applied in the ticket tracking
system. The patch is very short and doesn't modify any existing
functionality, it only makes Asterisk honor "423 Interval too brief"
responses from a SIP server (this response was ignored before and the
connection to the server could not be established).
The correctness of the patch in the absence of any 423 message can be
checked in the first three hunks (two lines added and one line
modified); it clearly shows that it does not modify the existing
behaviour if no 423 message is received.
Sorry to insist on this one, but handling of 423 messages is required
to make Asterisk work properly with Free Telecom's Cirpack equipment
(Free Telecom is the second largest French ADSL provider [IP, TV and
phone] and has been offering SIP VoIP to their 1,783,000 subscribers
for two weeks now and many people are experimenting with Asterisk
right now) without modifying the global default_expiry setting (which
affects all SIP providers at the same time).
