How about CVS-1.0?  Don't apply a moniker to it.  Or pick a completely
random 'code name' that won't be confusing for those who try to insist
that the name given to a release describe every possible usage scenario.

CVS-HEAD remains the bleeding edge.  CVS-X.Y.Z for the various release
snapshots that are created along the way.
