Why would you do a lot of recompiling of a debian AMD64 install? it is
already all 64bit. Since it is going to be set for a pretty narrow
architecture, there shouldn't be any backward compatible binary build
problems. Shouldn't be too much you could optimize by spending that much
time building it yourself.
