[Asterisk-Dev] How to write an asterisk application

I want to write an application in the Asterisk. When asterisk receives a call, it will call this application. This application will connect to a server and transfer some information.
Can anyone show me some related document  about how to write and compile the new application and how to call that application from asterisk?
