Here EDITOR=vim, basic googling and search in the help showed that vim 6
has really useful support of folding, but sadly, nobody has yet done the
little work of adding "fold"-s to syntax/c.vim . See 

  vim +h\ folding
  vim +h\ fold-syn
  grep -lw fold /usr/share/vim/vim*/syntax/*.vim
