I find it hard to believe that anyone who has used mysql for any
length of time hasn't experienced how it can do unexpected things to
your data. Call it 'unexpected behavior', 'mangled data', or whatever
you like. There are a number of gotcha's in mysql where data is
handled in non standard ways, and if you arent' aware of what they
are, you will have mangled data. Mangled data being defined as what
you get back out of the database isn't what you put in.
