i've got asterisk 0.9.0 running on picobsd on a soekris 4511 (100mhz amd
elan processor, 64MB RAM) and it only handles one ulaw <--> gsm transcode
before it breaks up. without transcoding, it can easily handle 4-8
simultaneous calls. the entire image (OS + asterisk) is 10MB.

over the weekend, i'll try with asterisk 1.0.0, though a cursory glance
shows that the memory requirements have somehow increased from ~9MB in
0.9.0 to 25MB in 1.0.0 even with some modules not loaded.
