For the record, HDLC failures in zapras (and some other things) have been 
fixed by:

a) hdparm -u1

b) rejiggering interrupt assignments

c) (this made a *lot* of difference) - using lowlatency and preempt
patches for kernel

To test if you going to get HDLC errors, just run ./zttest in zaptel
directory. If you don't get 100% performance all the time, you are bound
to have problems (you'll have minor problems with other things anyway,
such as PRI restarting channels more often than it should, but it seems to
muck up zapras particularly bad).
