[Asterisk-Dev] Manager event system

Is anyone currently working on improving this system? From what I've 
found digging around the docs and source, there doesn't seem to be a 
proper event recording system which will allow realtime status 
monitoring of calls and queue states. I noticed from the Wish List in 
the september archives that it has been suggested to improve this 
system. Has anyone begun work on this? Or does such a system already 
exist that I am completely missing?
