They are trying to figure out what changed between:
bison 1.35
   and
bison 1.35-3mdk

The compile works with "bison 1.35-3mdk" but not with "bison 1.35".  They are
wondering what was the specific change.  It is not about understanding the
answer (easy, update), but understanding the problem. (Why ask, why?)

Oh, and the other reply you had about updating bison, was not to the issue
with compilation.  So, it would have been missed.  The first suggestion for
updating bison was for a behavior change in conditionals inside of
extensions.conf.
