Digium holds the coptright to the original works which the derived work is
based on. Thus they can grant you any of the limited rights reserved for
the copyright holder to you in any additionally limited way they want.
E.g. they can allow you to send patches under non-gpl:ed terms.
The gpl does not bind the copyright holder, nor anyone else the copyright
holder wishes to make an excpetion for.
