When he doesn't want xml-rpc because he says "I don't want a web server", 
then he doesn't want jabber as well.

Oh, and, you don't need a "Web-Server" for xml-rpc. It can run on any 
port, not just port 80. And it doesn't have to provide normal 
web-browsing.
