They happen with things where people actually know and use the C 
programming language to modify Asterisk.

The "[Asterisk-Dev] realtime voicemail" mail might be a -dev thing, but it 
is much more a bugs.digium.com thing. And, from my point of view, this 
mailing list is not meant as a fallback list for those people that didn't 
get a proper answer on the -users mailing list.
