This bug has been closed, so I can't update it in the bug tracker.
The fix that was applied doesn't correct the reported problem.  The
patch in the bug report does.

To see the reported problem, cat your ".asterisk_history" file before
and after calling asterisk in console mode (I use remote mode).  You'll
find a lot of empty lines in there.

Luckily, your patch doesn't CVS conflict with mine, so I'll just leave
both on my system.
