[Asterisk-Dev] RE: Hardware support for TDM

Thanks for the replies. What you suggesting makes perfect sense. So the
IRQ manipulation must be made in the bios settings and not on the Digium
card? Would I need to modify any jumpers on the TDM400P? I looked at the
bios settings of my Dimension 2100 and, fraqnkly, I have no idea where
those changes can be made. I saw in the advanced settings that IRQ 5 is
reserved, but nothing more. Can you help?

Claude

Hi All,

Last week I had problems installing the TDM DK on my Dell Dimension
2100. Digium support confirmed that there is an incompatibility problem
between the TDM card (TDM400P) and the motherboard, and that problem
will be fixed sometime in September (which is too late for me). Also,
Digium tech support were unable to provide me with a list of supported
motherboards.

Can someone tell me what platform they're using (brand/model/clone)? I
am not looking for a high end server for now. The purpose is to evaluate
Asterisk with the Digium cards and develop a simple 'proof of concept'
dialer.

Also, would using a Dialogic card a good alternative? Has anyone used an
analog Dialogic card with Asterisk? which model?

Thanks for any help/suggestions/recommendations

Regards,

Claude

Claude,

I used an MSI KT4 to test the TDM card. The only issue that I noticed
was = that the TDM card does not like to share interrupts. Just ensure
that the = IRQ for the slot where you insert the card is not shared.

Yep,

I can most certainly concur on this one. Having shared IRQ's will put a
monkey wrench in your attempts to initialize any of the zapata hardware.
It took me about an hour to get the bios settings just right to make the
two zapata pci slots have dedicated IRQ's. *phew*

It seems this worked.
We've had no crashes this weekend!

Thanks again Mark.

I made a fix, let me know if this takes care of it.

I wonder how many Cisco, Avaya, Quintum, etc customers have experienced
an almost immediate fixing of an issue like this.

I think none. Open source rules!
