There's been a lot of interest by Jeremy McNamara, George Lin and Andrea 
Fino to name a few... Andrea seems to be working on a project, 
http://www.faino.org/ast-ax-snmpd/ast-ax-snmpd.0.1.tar.gz as you probably 
noticed in the post the other day..
