R: [Asterisk-Dev] persistent SIP registration

Sip phone register again with * after
theis timeout (my snom do that every 10 minutes,
my Cisco every hour). So that's not a problem.

If you need to call them *before* they register
again, you can define the default ip into
sip.conf, so when NOT registered , asterisk use
that ip to get to those phones.
