Additionally, -1 pending resolution of https://issues.asterisk.org/jira/browse/ASTERISK-30221

I would honestly consider removing all the "fancy" stuff like anything dealing with transfer masquerades and just do the "core" group vars patch for now, make sure that's solid, and add those as enhancements later. It might be too much for all at once.
