I agree with Sean here, and I don't think this is the correct solution/approach.

There are some legitimate use cases for a try_lock, but it's my opinion that those cases are quite rare and I don't think one is needed here. By using a try_lock you've just pushed the onus of checking/retrying off to the dialplan. Depending on the system, and timing of things the dialplan in that thread may have to block for some time.
