Patch Set 1:
Not sure I understand. I have to specify a version. No way around that. Asterisk was tested with Python 2.x and on all other platforms Python 2.7 is loaded via install_prereq. Finally, 2.7.xx is the last version of the 2.x stream/branch – at least that is my understanding.
