Patch Set 1:

Running Ubuntu 16.10, the samples provided by the current master (make samples) are working (incl. extensions.lua): `asterisk -f` starts.
Modifying the extensions.lua (insert bad syntax), prevents, as desired, Asterisk from starting.

Probably, I am just to sleepy.
I will come back to this issue tomorrow.
