Hey Lorenzo,

This work looks really good.  I like the direction it's heading in, and I'm excited to see it being added to Asterisk. One thing to note though - this patch needs to be against master instead of against 14, due to the ABI change and the fact that it affects core parts of Asterisk.

This should be as easy as hitting the "cherry-pick" button and selection of the branch as master.
