I do not understand your proposal, yet. Isn’t it possible to add your idea as code here in Gerrit? Moving ast_format_cap_remove_by_type down to that line of code would be too late according to my tests. In the Jira issue, I mentioned the control flow – not sure if that clarifies our issue here.
