--------------------------------

Actually that was the older version... here is the one I've been using recently:

{noformat}
#!/bin/bash
size=`/usr/sbin/asterisk -rx 'malloc trim' 2>&1 | grep 'Unable' | wc -l`
if [ $size -gt 0 ]
then
        ls -la /var/crash > /tmp/core.txt
        ulimit -c >> /tmp/core.txt
        crash=`cat /tmp/core.txt`
        cd /var/crash
        ulimit -c unlimited
        start=`/usr/sbin/asterisk -g` # get asterisk going again
        printf "%s\r\n\t%s\r\n%s\r\n" "Greetings," "Asterisk was just discovered to be down due to temporary equipment trouble. The switch has automatically been started again. Please investigate the cause of the fault ASAP." "$crash" | mail -s "Asterisk Crash Alert" -a "From: Asterisk <alerts at REDACTED>" "REDACTED"

> Currently, Asterisk crashes randomly every few days, not seemingly linked to anything going on at the moment. In fact, prior to this crash, the system was completely idle (no calls) for the previous 34 minutes.
> Here is a backtrace from right before the last crash, useful as it has line numbers:
