In __ast_read in channel.c we have ast_channel_lock(chan);

Once it is locked and the code is on read() then this channel will continue to be deadlocked and probably that is why we have issues from Exceptionally long queue to No frame from bridge and other alertpipe errors which continue to fill logger and cause performance issues till the channel is released .
