Tzafrir Cohen created ASTERISK-26473:
----------------------------------------

             Summary: menuselect: GTK fronend messed up on a right-to-left locale
                 Key: ASTERISK-26473
                 URL: https://issues.asterisk.org/jira/browse/ASTERISK-26473
             Project: Asterisk
          Issue Type: Bug
      Security Level: None
    Affects Versions: 14.0.2, 13.11.2, 11.23.1
            Reporter: Tzafrir Cohen
            Severity: Minor

GTK supports locales that have a major right-to-left directionality (Hebrew, Arabic, Farsi and such). When such a locale is installed as is in effect (see below) the layout of gmenuselect is quite messed up. usable, but not easy to understand.

workarounds: The directionality of a GTK application is set from the LC_MESSAGES component of the locale. Hence, depending on your LANG/LC_*/LC_ALL/LANGUAGES (see the output of locale) you can override it with either:

{code}
LANG=C            make gmenuselect
LC_LOCALE=C make gmenuselect
LC_ALL=C        make gmenuselect
{code}
