You'll have to be more specific and explicit about what you mean by:

bq. can no longer get the pjproject shared files to update

and

bq.  the ldconfig is not working

What commands are you running, what is happening? What output do you see? If we can't get this solved quickly, then this is going to turn into a support issue that would better be handled on the mailing list so many people can provide input.
