I have the same problem with Asterisk 1.8.10.1, so nothing is resolved with 1.8.5.0. I found the problem with one outbound call through Sangoma A101D with hardware echo canceller.
We don't have jitterbuffers enabled in chan_dahdi.conf. I will try with them now.
