I am not sure how this is an Asterisk problem since Asterisk would be connecting as a client to Google's servers just like the Galaxy S3 and Pidgin are clients.  Asterisk would act independently of whatever other clients are connected to Google's server.

Can you please provide more information to help troubleshoot the issue.  This document will provide instructions on how to collect debugging logs from an Asterisk machine for the purpose of helping bug marshals troubleshoot an issue: https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Collecting+Debug+Information
