Summary: asterisk-dahdi and dependencies can't be installed
in openz
Description:
I'm trying to install asterisk's rpms to act as SIP server (no hardware
support required) on a CentOS 5 container under OpenVZ. The peculiarity of
this setup (as of any setup based on OpenVZ) is that in the container no
package related to the kernel are installed. Unfortunately when I try to
install asterisk16 with yum the dependency asterisk-dahdi and all the
related kernel packages are pulled in automatically. This results in some
conflict that cannot be resolved.
Would it be possible to remove from the asterisk16 package the dependency
on asterisk-dahdi and therefore all the kernel related packages? I hope
this is feasible/meaningful (I'm not an asterisk expert).

The packages Digium builds are only supported on CentOS. Some
virtualization and hosting providers have modified installs, that break
things (as you've seen).
It's likely possible to do (hint: see asterisk-core package), but you're
on your own..
