Description: 
going back to 2.1.0.4 and the problem is gone. 

this issue was reported by alecdavid in 0015498 and it is NOT fixed and
should not have been merged into 2.2.0.2.

tblancher:  Your issue is different since you're getting an error about
being unable to set SW Companding.  This is when I say you probably want to
contact Digium Technical support for assistance with this issue.
