going back to 2.1.0.4 and the problem is gone. 

this issue was reported by alecdavid in 0015498 and it is NOT fixed and
should not have been merged into 2.2.0.2.

I have a customer with the same problem, but with wctdm24xxp.  dmesg is as
follows:
